of the hostile natives on the settlement and stockades of Wanganui, 19th May, and action of the 19th July 1847
(Medal).
145 Lt. Colonel James Hare served in the 60th Rifles in the campaign of 1857 against themutineers inlndia from 7th
June, including the battle of Budleeke Serai and taking the heights before Delhi, the subsequent siege operations
assault and capture of the city, with the final attack on and occupation of the palace (Medal with Clasp). He
served also the Oude campaign in 1858, including the actions of Pusgaon and Rissoolpore, attack and capture
of Fort Mittowlie, and action of Biswah.
149 Lt.Colonel the Honorable C. R. Hay served with the Scots Fusilier Guards in the Crimea from 2nd May 1855,
including the siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).
150 Lt.Colonel Haygarth served with the Scots Fusilier Guards in the Eastern campaign of 1854 until severely
wounded at the battle of Alma — shot through shoulder and thigh (Medal with Clasp, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and
Turkish Medal).
151 Lt.Colonel W. W. Haywood served in the Afghan war m 1879-80, and was present in the engagement at
Mazeena and with the Kama Expedition (Medal).
152 Lt.Colonel Heneage served with the Coldstream Guards in the Crimean campaign from 18th Oct. 1854, including
the battles of Balaklava and Tnkerman, siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal with three Clasps, 5th Class of the Med-
jidie, and Turkish Medal).
115 Lt.Colonel Hickie served with the 7th Fusiliers in the Crimea from the 17th June 1855, including the siege and
fall of Sebastopol, and assaults of the Redan on the 18th June and 8th September — severely wounded (Medal with
Clasp, and Turkish Medal).
157 Lt.Colonel J. Howley served in the Crimea with the 4th Regiment from the 8th Nov. 1854, including the siege
and fall of Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp, Sardinian and Turkish Medals).
158 Lt.Colonel Hon. C. J. Hubbard served with the 2nd Battalion Grenadier Guards in the Egyptian war of 1882
(Medal, and Khedive's Star).
160 Colonel J. Hudson served with the 97th Regiment in the Indian campaign of 1857-58, and was present in
the actions of Chanda, Umeerpore, and Sulcanpore, and at the siege and capture of Lucknow (Medal with CUsp).
161 Lt.Colonel W. W. W. Hmnbley served with the 9th Lancers in the Sutlej campaign in 1846, includiug the battle
of Sobraon (Medal).
163 Lt.Colonel T. B. Hutton served with the 21st Fusiliers in the Crimea from the 6th Aug. 1855, including the siege
and fall of Sebastopol, and expedition to Kimbourn (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Served with the 61st
Regiment at the siege assault and capture of Delhi in 1857, including repulse of sorties on 4th 18th and 23rd July,
and 1st August— wounded (Medal with Clasp).
165 Lt.Colonel R. B. Ingram served in Bengal in suppressing the mutiny in 1857-58, and commanded a detach-
ment of the 97th Regt. in the escort of a large convoy of stores and ammunition from Benares into the Azimghur
entrenchment on the 9th April 1858 (Medal).
166 Lt.Colonel L. H. L. Irby served with the 90th Light infantry in the Crimea from 5th Dec. 1854 to 20th Mtreh
1855, including the siege of Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Served also in India from 12th Aug.
1857 until the end of the rebellion, including the defence of the Alurnbigh, relief of Luckuow by Lord Clyde, defence
of the Alumbagh under Outram, siege and fall of Lucknow (Medal with two Clasps, and a year's service).
169 Lt.Colonel D. W. G. James served with the Queen's Royals in the campaign in the Southern Mahratta Country
in 1844 (including the storm and capture of the Fortress of Punella) and part of that in the Concan and Sawant
Warree country in 1844-45. Also in the Kaffir war of 1851-52 (Medal); and with the expedition north of the
Orange River in 1852-53.
171 Lt.Colonel H. C. Jervoise served throughout the Eastern campaign of 1854-55 ^ s Aide de Camp to General
Airey, including the battles of Alma and Balaklava, and siege of Sebastopol (Medal with three Clasps, Sardinian
and Turkish Medals, and 5th Class of the Medjidie).
172 Lt.Colonel A. S. Jones was present at the battle of Budleekeserai and at Delhi throughout the siege operations,
including the assault and capture of the city, having been D.A.Q.M.G. to the Cavalry Brigade from 8th Aug. to
23rd Sept. 1857. Served with the 9th Lancers in Greathed's pursuing Column and was present in the actions of
Bolundshuhur and Allyghur, and battle of Agra, where he was dangerously wounded, having received a musket-
shot wound and twenty-two sabre cuts. He was mentioned in the despatches of Sir Hope Grant on three different
occasions (Brevet of Major, Victoria Cross, Medal with Clasp) : was awarded the l T l£ for the following service : —
" The cavalry charged the rebels and rode througn them, ljieutenant Jones, of the 9th Lancers, with his squadron,
captured one of their guns, killing the drivers, and, with Lieutenant Colonel Yule's assistance, turned it upon a
village occupied by the rebels, who were quickly dislodged. This was a well-conceived act, gallantly executed."

174 Lt.Colonel L. J. F. Jones served with the 7th Fusiliers in the Crimean campaign from 20th Oct. 1854, and wasDre-
sent at the battle of Inkerman (wounded) and siege of Sebastopol, including sorties of 26th Oct., 5th April (wounded),
-nnd 9th May, storming the Quarries on 7th June (wounded), and assault of the Redan on the 18th June— very severely
wounded (Medal with two Clasps, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal). Served in the 88th Regiment
(luring the Indian Mutiny of 1857-58, and was present in all the actions at Cawnpore under General Windham, also
at the action of Bhognapore. capture of Calpee, and subjugation of Oude (Medal with Clasp, and Brevet of Major).
177 Sir Robert Kingscote served the Eastern campaign of 1854-55 as Aide de Camp to Loi-d Raglan, including the
battles of Alma, Balaklava, and Inkerman, and siege of Sebastopol (Brevet of Lt.Colonel, Medal with four Clasps,
CB., and Turkish Medal).
■'■' s Lt.Colonel A. M. Knight served the Sutlej campaign of 1845-46 with the 16th Lancers, and was present at
ihe affair of Buddiwal, and in the battles of Aliwal and Sobraon ( Medal and Clasp). Served in the Kaffir war of
1847 with the 7th Dragoon Guards, when he commanded the Cavalry Escort of Sir Harry Smith. Also during the
Kaffir war of 1851-53 (Medal) with the Cape Mounted Riflemen, including the action of Berea. Served again on
the Staff of Sir Harry Smith, and subsequently on that of his successor, Sir George Cathcart.
180 Lt.Colonel W. Knipe served with the 86th Regiment with the Central India Field Force in 1858, and was pre
sent at the battle before and capture of the town and fortress of Gwalior (Medal with Clasp).
181 Lt.Colonel F. Lambton served in the Crimea from 30th Dec. 1854, including the siege and fall of Sebastopol
(Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).
184 Lt.Colonel A. H. Lefroy served with the 45th Regiment in the Abyssinian campaign in 1868 (Medal).
192 Lt.Coionol Lister served with the 9th Regt. the campaign of 1842 in Affghanistan and was wounded at Istaliff
(Medal). Served also in the Crimea from 27th Nov. 1854, including the siege and fall of Sebastopol and assault of
the enemy's batteries on the 18th June (Medal with Clasp, Brevet of Lt.Colonel, Sardinian and Turkish Medals).
195 Lt.Colonel Drury Lowe served with the 74th Highlanders throughout the Kaffir war of 1851-53 (Medal). Served
as Aide de Camp to Sir H. Barnard, to Major General Reed, and to Sir A. Wilson during the siege assault and cap-
ture of Delhi and all minor engagements, and received the thanks of the Governor General in Council (Brevet ci
Major, Medal with Clasp).

198 Lt.Colonel F. L. H. Lyon served in the Crimean campaign from Dec. 1854 up to Sept. 1855. including the siege
of Sebastopol, and in the Trenches with the siege train at the bombardments of 9th April, and 6th and 17th June
(Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Served in the Indian campaign in 1857-58, including the action of Pandora,
storm and capture of Meangunge, siege and capture of Lucknow, action of Barree, capture of Rampore Kussia,
affairs of Muchagawn Tigree, relief of Azimghur, operations in the Jungle and capture of Jugdespore (Med tl with
Clasp).
201 Lt.Colonel F. T. Lyster served with the 50th Regiment in the battle of Punniar (Bronze Star). Previous to
entering the British service he served in Portugal, in the Pedroite army, from 1833 to 1835, and was at the defence
of Oporto, and in all the affairs from the raising of the siege to the termination of the war. He afterwards served
in Spain under Sir De Lacy Evans, as Captain of Infantry, and under Espartero as Captain of Cavalry, and subse-
quentlv on the Staff of General Don Diego Leon, whose escort he commanded from 1836 to 1841. Was twice deco-
rated with the Order of St. Ferdinand for charges of Cavalry at Alio and Berga, and with the Medals for the siege
and capture of Irun and Morlela ; once severely wounded. Was present in the following actions and affairs in that
