I Lord Chelmsford served with the Grenadier Guards in the Crimea from the 31st May 1855, including the
siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp, Brevet of Major, Sardinian and Turkish Medals, and 5th Class
of the Medjidie). Served with the 95th Regiment in the Indian campaign (Medal). Served in the Abyssinian
campaign in 1868 an Deputy Adjutant General of the Expeditionary Force, and was oresent at the capture of
Magdala (mentioned in despatches for " great ability and untiring energy," CB., and Medal). Ser ved in com-
mand of the British forces m the Kafir war of 1878, and in the Zulu war of 1875, being present at the engage-
ments of GingindhlovG and Ulundi (Medal with Clasp, and GCB.).
4 Colonel Smith-Dorrien served in the Zulu war in 1879, and was present in the engagements at Isanhlwana
and TJlundi (mentioned in despatches, Medal with Clasp). Served in the Egyptian war 01 1882 in command of the
Mounted Infantry (which he raised) with Sir Evelyn Wood's Brigade (Medal, and Khedive's Star) . Served in the
Soudan campaign in 1885 with the Mounted Infantry (Clasp); also served with the Soudan Frontier Field Force
in 1885-86 including the investment of Kosheh and the engagement at Giniss (mentioned in despatches, DSO.,
and 4th Class of the Medjidie). In 1887 he was nominated to the 4th Class of the Osmanieh for services with the
Egyptian Army. Served in the campaign on the North West Frontier of India, under Sir William Lockhart in
1897-98 with the Tirah Expeditionary Force with the 2nd Battalion Derbyshire Regiment, and was present at the
capture of the Sampagha and Arhanga Passes, and in the operations in the Mastura, Waran, and Bazar \ alleys
(mentioned in despatches. Brevet of Lt.Colonel, Medal with two Clasps).
5 Major Taylor served in the Egyptian war of 1882 with the 2nd Battalion Derbyshire Regiment (Medal, and
Khedive's Star). Served in the campaign on the North West Frontier of India under Sir William Lockhart in
1897-98 with the Tirah Expeditionary Force with the 2nd Battalion Derbyshire Regiment, and was present at the
storming of the Dargai Heights, the capture of the Sampagha and Arhanga Passes, and in the operations in the
Khanki, Mastura, Waran and Bazar Valleys (Medal with two Clasps).
6 Major Wylly served with the 2nd Battalion Derbyshire Regiment in the Egyptian war of 1S82 (Medal, and
Khedive's Star). Served in the Sikkim Expedition in 1S88 with the 2nd Battalion Derbyshire Regiment, part o i
the time in command of a detachment, and was present in the engagements at Jeluk, Gnathong, and the Jelapla
(mentioned in despatches, Medal with Clasp). Served in the campaign on the North West Frontier of India under
Sir William Lockhart in 1897-98 with the Tirah Expeditionary Force with the 2nd Battalion Derbyshire Regiment,
and was present at the storming of the Dargai Heights, the capture of the Sampagha and Arhanga Passes, and

9 Major Godley served in the Sikkim Expedition in 1888 with the 2nd Battalion Derbyshire Regiment, and
was present in the engagement at the Jelapla (Medal with Clasp).
II Major Gosset served with Barrow's Mounted Infantry in the Boer warofi88i. Served as Adjutant 2nd
Battalion Derbyshire Regiment in the Esyptian war of 1882 (Medal, and Khedive's Star). Served in the
Sikkim Field Force in 1888 with the 2nd Battalion Derbyshire Regiment, and was present in the engagement at
Gnathong (Medal with Clasp) . Served in the campaign on the North West Frontier of India under Sir William
Lockhart in 1897-98 as Assistant Quarter Master General ist Division Tirah Expeditionary Force (Medal with two
Clasps).
13 Major Watts served in the operations m South Africa under Sir Frederick Carrington in i8c6; assisted in
organising the Matabeleland Relief Force and afterwards commanded a Relief Column to Mashonaland as well
as the Column which finally assaulted Makoni's stronghold and captured that Chief (mentioned in despatches,
Medal).
15 Colonel Cunningham served in the Egyptian war of i882,andwaspresentintheengagements atElMagfar
and Tel-el-Mahuta, and in the action at Kassasin on the 28th August— twice wounded (mentioned in despatches,
Medal, Brerel of Major, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Khedive's Star). Served in the Nile Expedition in 1884-85
with the 2nd Battalion of the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry, and took part in the operations of the Advance
Column under Major General Earle (Clasp); also served in the operations of the Soudan Frontier Field Force
in 1887 including the engagement at Sarras, and in the operations in 1889 including the engagements at Arguin
(wounded) and Toski (Clasp). Nominated to the 4th Class of the Osmanieh for services with the Egyptian Army.
Commanded the Dnyoro Expedition in 1895 — wounded (mentioned in despatches. Medal) ; and commanded the
Nandi Expedition in 1895-96 (mentioned in despatches, DSO.). Served in the Niger Soudan campaign under
Major Arnold in 1897, including the expeditions to Egbon, Bida, and Ilorin (mentioned in despatches, Brevet of
Lt.Colonel, Clasp).
IC Major Shaw served with the 2nd Battalion Derbyshire Regiment in the Egyptian war of 1882 (Medal, and
Khedive's Star).
18 Captain Bowman served with the 2nd Battalion Derbyshire Regiment in the Egyptian war of 1882 (Medal
and Khedive's Star). Served in the Sikkim Expedition in 1888 with the 2nd Battalion Derbyshire Regiment, and
was present in the engagements at Jeluk, Gnathong, and the Jelapla (Medal with Clasp). Served in the cam-
paign on the North West Frontier of India under Sir William Lockhart in 1897-98 with the Tirah Expeditionary
Force with the 2nd Battalion Derbyshire Regiment, and was present at the storming of the Dargai Heights, the
capture of the Sampagha and Arhanga Passes, and in the operations in the Khanki and Mastura Valleys —
severely wounded (Medal with two Clasps).
19 Captain Stopford served with the 2nd Battalion Derbyshire Regiment in the Egyptian war of 1882 (Medal,
and Khedive's Star). Served in the Sikkim Expedition in 1888 as Adjutant to the 2nd Battalion Derbyshire
Regiment, and was present in the engagement at the Jelapla (Medal with Clasp).
22 Captain Bosanquet served in the campaign on the North West Frontier of India under Sir William Lockhart
