45 Colonel "W. J. A. Birch served in the Afghan war of 1878-79, and was present at the attack and capture

46 Colonel C. E. Blackett served the Eastern campaign of 1854 with the 93rd Highlanders and that of 1855 with
the Coldstream Guards, including the battles of Alma and Balaklava, siege and fall of Sebastopol (mentioned in
despatches; Medal with three Clasps, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal) .
47 Colonel W. Blackett served with the 98th Regiment in the Peshawur Expeditionary Force on the Euzofzie
Frontier under Sir Sydney Cotton in April and May 1858, and at the affair with the Hindostanee fanatics on the
"Heights of Sittana on the 4 th May (Medal). '

war of 1878-80, and was present at the capture of Ali Musjid and at the affair at Fnttehabad (mentioned in

50 Colonel R. Blenzby served with the Burmese Expedition in 1885-F7 (Medal with Clasp).
sl Colonel E. G. Blenkinsop served in the Afghan war in 1879-80, and commanded at Fort Battye during the-
night attack by Shinwarris and Khugianis (Medal).
62 Colonel A. F. F. Blocmfield served during the second 1 Burmese war j accompanied the Martaban Column to
Tonghoo ; present at the attack and capture of Gongah and other minor affairs (Medal with clasp for Pegu). Sent
on special service in command of a detachment of Golcondah Sebundies to suppress the disturbances in the hill
tracts of the Godavery district in 1857-58 (received the thanks of the Madras Government). Commanded a detach-
ment of the Golcondah Sebundies during the disturbances in the Golcondah Zemindarym 1858 (received the thanks
of the Madras Government and approbation of the Commander in Chief). Commanded the Civil Force sent to-
quell the disturbances in the Rumpah country in the Godavery district 18S2 — slightly wounded (received the
thanks of the Madras Government for the third time).
53 Colonel W. H. Blowers served with the Persian Expeditionary Force in 1856-57 and was present at the bom-
bardment and capture of the forts of Mohumra (Medal with Clasp). Served in f-.he Indian Mutiny campaign, audi
was present at the siege and capture of Kotah, and served in Rajpootana during all the operations in that Province
in 1858 and 1859 (Medal with Clasp).
54 Colonel H. B. H. Blundell served in the Eastern campaign in 1855-56 after the fall of Sebastopol. Served with,
the Nile Expedition in 1884-85 as Inspecting Officer of the Lines of Communication and afterwards as Commandant
at Dongola (mentioned in despatches, Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star).
55 Colonel A. Blunt served in the Punjaub campaign of 1848-49, including the siege and capture of Mooltan, and battle
of Goo.jerat (Medal with two Clasps).'
56 Colonel D. Blyth served on the coast of Syria in 1840 (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal) . Served the Eastern,
campaign of 1854-55, with the Royal Marines, including the battle of Balaclava and siege of Sebastopol, and waa
attached to the Light Division of the Army in the Trenches, and at the battle of Inkerman (Medal with three Clasps,
Knight of the Legion of Honor, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
57 Colonel R. J. Bond commanded the A Troop of Royal Engineers in the Egyptian war of 18S2, and was
present at the battle of Tel-el-Kebir (mentioned in despatches, Brevet of Lt.Colonel, Medal with Clasp, 3rd Class
of the Medjidie, and Khedive's Star).
58 Colonel J. Bonham was severely wounded at the affair of Chinhut, and served during the defence of the Resi-
dency at Lucknow from 30th June to 10th Nov. 1857. He was wounded on the 15th August, and severely wounded
on the 30th August (twice mentioned in despatches, Medal with Clasp, a year's service, and Brevet of Major).
59 Colonel G. W. Borradaile commanded N. Batterj-, A Brigade, Royal Horse Artillery, in the Egyptian war of
1882, and was present at the battle of Tel-el-Kebir (mentioned in despatches, CB., Meda'l with Clasp, 3rd Class of
the Medjidie, and Khedive's Star).

C1 Colonel L. L. Brett served against the King of Quiah, Western Africi, and commanded a detachment of the
2nd West India Regiment at Songo when attacked by the euemy in great force, and whom he repulsed on 21st
Dec. 1S61. Served in the Ashanti war in 1873-74, including the action of Essaman (Brevet of Major, Medal).

62 Colonel Hon. F. C. Bridgeman served in the expedition to the Soudan in 1SS5 with the 2nd Battalion of the

65 Colonel John Bricgs served with the 9th Regiment in the Crimea from Nov. 1854, including the siege of Sebas-
topol, and capture of the Cemetery and suburbs under General Eyre (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).
Served in the Indian campaign of 1857-33, including the relief of Lucknow by Lord Clyde, occupation of the
Alumbagh under Outram with the several engagements there, fall of Lucknow, relief of Azimghur, capture of
Jugdispore. and subsequent operations (Medal with two Clasps, and a year's service). Served with the expedition
in North China in 1S60, and was present at the capture of the Taku Forts and the surrender of Pekin (Medal with
two Clasps).
66 Colonel A. Broadfoot served with the Bhootan Expedition in 1865 (Medal with Clasp). Served in the-
Abyssinian campaign from February 1868 (Medal). Served in the Afghan war in 1879-80, and was present at the
attack and capture of Ali Musjid, in the engagement at Charasiah on the 6th October 1879, in the advanee to-
Cabul under Brigadier General Gough (twice mentionad in despatches), and in the engagement at Skekabad
(mentioned in despatches, Brevet of Major, Medal with three Clasps). Also served with the Mahsood VVuzeeree
Expedition in 1881. Served with the Burmese Expedition in 1885-86 (Clasp).
67 Colonel E. A. Brind served with the 88th Regiment throughout the Zulu war of 1879 (Medal with. Clasp).
68 Colonel F. Brodigan served in the Eastern campaign of 1855 with the 28th Regiment, including the siege of
Sebastopol and affair in the Cemetery — severely wounded while assisting to rescue a wounded soldier who lay in
advance exposed to a heavy fire of musketry (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Served with the Okamundel
Field Force in 1859. and was present at tb.2 storming and capture of Bey t (wounded), reconnaissance before, siege,
and occupation ol'Dwarka.
69 Colonel C. J. Bromhead accompanied Sir Garnet Wolseley to the Gold Coast in Sept. 1873 on special service,
and served throughout the Ashanti war of 1873-74. Was sent as Special Commissioner first to the King of Eastern
Assin and then to the King of Abra. Was Staff Officer to Colonel Festing at the action of the 27th October near
Dunquah. Commanded the Abras at the repulse of the Ashanti Army at Abrakvampa during the 5th and 6th
November 1873. Commanded the reconnaissance in force of the Sth November. Afterwards served with Russell's
Regiment at the capture and destruction of Adubiassie, battle of Amoaful, capture and destruction ot'Becquah,
advanced guard engagement at Jarbinbah, skirmishes and ambuscade affairs between Adwabin and the river
Ordab, battle of Ordahsu and capture of Coomassie (mentioned in despatches, Brevet of Major, Medal with Clasp).
Served in the Zulu war of 1879 (Medal with Clasp). Served with the Burmese Expedition in 1887-89 (Medal with
Clasn).
69 t Colonel A. de V. Brooke served in the Soudan campaign in 18S5, and was present in the engagements at
Hasheen and the Tofrek zereba, and at the destruction of Temai (Medal with two Clasps, and Khedive's Star).
