Wilson's Staff, and was present at the actions of the 30th and 31st May on the Hindun, battle of Budlee-ke-
Serai, throughout the siege assault and capture of Delhi, siege and capture of Lucknow (Brevet of Major, Medal
with two Clasps, and CB.).
24 t Colonel F. W. J. Barker served in the Abyssinian war of 1867-68, and was present at the capture of Mag-
nate (Medal).
25 Colonel C. Barlow served thePunjanb campaign of 1848-49 with the 10th Regt., including the whole of the siege
operations l>efore Mooltan, action of Soorjkoond, carrying the Heights before Mooltan, capture of the Dowlat Gate
(grape-shot wound), and surrender of the fortress; afterwards present at the battle of Goojerat (Medal with two
Clasps). Served in the Indian campaign of 1857-58, including the capture of Jugdespore with Eyre's Force, capture
of Atrowleea, actions of Chanda, Umeerpore, Sultanpore, and Douraha, siege and capture of Lucknow, relief of
Azimghur, and operations in the Jugdespore Jungle (Medal with Clasp).
26 Colonel C. E. Basevi served in Persia from Feb. to Oct. 1857, and received three sword cuts in the action
of Amherpan.ee (mentioned in despatches, Medal with Clasp).
27 Colonel C. E. Bates served during the Indian Mutiny and was severely and dangerously wounded on the
■occasion of the mutiny at Jnllunder on 7th June 1857. Operations in Bundlecund in 1850 (Medal). Also served
.throughout the campaign of i860 in China, including the action of Sinho, taking of Tangku, capture of the Taku
Forts, and surrender of Pekin (Medal with two Clasps). Served with the Bhootan Field Force from February 1865
until the conclusion of operations, from April 1865 as Brigade Major (Medal with Clasp). Served with the Trans-
port Train in Abyssinia in 1868 (Medal). Also with the Looshai expeditionary force in 1870-71 as Brigade Major
to the Chittagong Column (mentioned in despatches, thanked by the Governor General in Council, Brevet of Major
and Clasp). Served iu the Afghan war in 1378 (Medal). Has also 011 two other occasions received thethauks of
■Government for Civil and Political services.

29 Colonel George Bay'ley served with the 31st Regiment in the Crimea from 22nd May 1S85, including the siege
.and fall of Sebastopol and attacks of the 18th June and 8th September (mentioned in despatches, Medal with Clasp,
and Turkish Medal). Served during the operations against the Taepings in the vicinity of Shanghai in April and
JSIay 1862, resulting in the taking of the stockade of Nanhsiang, capture by escalade of the walled cities of Kadin,
'Tsinpoo, and Tsolin, the fortified town of Najow, the affair at Nanhsiang and relief of Kadin and Tsinpoo (mentioned
fin despatches). Went to South Africa on special service in May 1870 (Medal).
30 Colonel A. R. Bayly served with the 8th Regt. at the siege and assault of Delhi, including repulse of sorties on
the 14th and 18th July, and the six days' fighting in the city ; afterwards present in the action of Bolundshur.

3 "t Colonel R. K. Bayly served in the Crimea from the 13th October 1855 till the 23rd July 1856. Served with the
.42nd Highlanders in the campaign of 1857-58 against the mutineers in India including the actions at Caw lpore (6th
Dec. 1857), Seraighat, Kudygunge, and Shumsabad, siege and fall of Lucknow and assault o£ the Maiciniere and
Banks' Bungalow, attack on the Fort of Rooyah, action of Allygunge, attack and capture of Baveilly and action at
Sisseaghat — wounded (Medal with Clasp). Embarked for the Gold Coast with the 42nd Highlanders. Served in the
second phase of the Ashanti war in 1874, and was present at the battle of Ordahsu and capture of Coomassie (Brevet
of Major, Medal with Clasp). Served with the 1st Battalion Black Watch in the Egyptian war of 1882, and was
present at the battle of Tel-el-Kebir (Medal with Clasp, 4th Class of the Osmanieh, and Khedive's Star). Served in
the Soudan Expedition in 1884 with the 1st Battalion Black Watch, and was present in the engagement at El Teb
.(jrd Class ef the Medjidie, two Clasps). Served in the Nile Expedition in 1884-85 with the 1st Battalion of the Black
Watch, took part with the River Column under Major General Earle, and was present in the engagement at Kirbekan
[(mentioned in despatches, CB., and two Clasps).
31 Colonel H. Beal served with the ist Battalion South Staffordshire Regiment in the Egyptian war of 1882,
and was present in the reconnaissance in force from Alexmdria on the 5th August (Medal, and Khedive's Star).

Turkish Medal). Served also in the Indian N.W. frontier war of 1863 with the Eusofzye Field Force, present at the
•defence o 1 ' the Sungahs at the Umbeyla Pass and at the attack on and storming of the Conical Hill and destruc-
tion of'Lalloo on the 15th December, also in the action at Umbeyla and destruction of the village at the foot of the
Bonaii Pass on 16th December which ended in the complete rout of the enemy and the submission of the hill tribes
on the 17th December (Medal with Clasp).
37 Colonel W. Bennett served in the Hazara campaign in 1868, including the expedition against the tribes on the
JBlack Mountain (.VIedal with Clasp). Served with the »ile Expedition m 1884-85 (Medal with Clasp, aud Khedive'8
Star). Served with the Soudan Frontier Field Force in 1885-86 during the operations on the Upper Nile in com-
mand of the 1st Battalion Yorkshire Regiment, and was present in the engagement at Giniss (mentioned in
despatches, DSO.).
33 Colonel W . W. Bennitt served with the Inniskilling Dragoons in the Boer war of 1881, and commanded an
-escort wiih Sir Evelyn Wood to Zululand. Served in the Bechuanaland Expedition under Sir Charles Warren in
1884-85 with tne inniskilling Dragoons.
39 Colonel M. VV. D. Beresford served with the 49th Regiment in the Crimean campaign from 25th December 1854.

Hazara Goorkha Battalion throughout the Mahsood Wuzeeree campaign of ib6o with the force under Brigadier
General Chamberlain, anri was present at the repulse of the attack on the British Camp at Paloseen, storming the
'Heights of Burrurah, and in the subsequent operations leading to the occupation of Raneegorum and burning of
Mookeen (Medal with Clasp).
41 Colonel J. F. Betty served in the New Zealand war in 1864-66, including the Waikato campaign and action at
Qrakau (mentioned in despatches) in command of a Battery ; also during the »Vangauui campaign, ana commanded
the Field Guns in action on the Patea river in March 1865, aud in other skirmisues on the Wanganui coast, and
present at the attack aud defeat of the natives at Kaitaki (Medal).
42 Colonel T. Biggs served in the SouthernMahratta campaign of 1844-45, including the sieges ofthe forts of Mono-
