General Forrest served with the 4th Dragoon Guards the Eastern campaign of 1854-53, including t\i battles
of Balaklava and Inkerman, siege of Sebastopol, night attack on Russian outposts 19th Feb. 1855, and battle of
Tchernaya ; commanded the 4th Royal Irish Dragoons from iSch February to 1st July 1855 (Medal with three
Clasps, Brevet of Lt.Colonel, Sardinian and Turkish Medals, and 5th Class of the lledjidie).
5 Lt. Colonel Courtenaj' served throughout the Zulu war of 1879 as Staff Officer of the mounted troops of the
Lower Tugela Column, and was present at the engagement of lnyezane, the action of Gingindhlovu, and the
relief of Ekowe (mentioned in despatches. Medal with Clasp). Served throughout the Nile Expedition in 1884-83
in command of the troop of 2uth Hussars with the Light Camel Regiment, and took part in the operations of
the Desert Column, including the attack on the convoy on the 14th February and the engagement at Abu Klea
Wells on the 16th and 17th February (Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star). Also served with the Egyptian
Frontier Field Force in 1885-86 as Adjutant to the 20th Hussars and as Staff Officer to Mounted troops, and was
present in the engagement at Giniss.
6 Major Rycroft served in the Nile Expedition in 1884-85 attached to the 1st Battalion of the Royal Irish Regi-
ment including the operations of the Desert Column, and afterwards with the Mounted Infantry (Medal with
Clasp, and Khedive's Star). Served with the Sou Ian Frontier Field Force in 1887 in command of the Irregular
Troops of the Egyptian Army, and was present in the engagement at Sarras (mentioned in despatches, 4th Class
of the Medjidie).
7 Captain Salt served with the expedition against the Yonnies, on the West Coast of Africa, in 1887-8S (mentioned
in despatches, Medal with Clasp).
* Lieut. Abadie served with the Chitral Relief Force under Sir Robert Low in 1895 (Medal with Clasp).
