Capture of Lucknow and operations across the Goomtee under Outram, and several other minor actions (Medal
with two Clasps). Embarked for the Gold Coast with the 2nd Battalion 23rd Fusiliers in 1873 (Brevet of Lt.
Colonel, Ashanti Medal).
568 Major General V. A. Ogle was landed from H.M.8. Bri*lc in command of adetachment of Roy il Marines for the
protection of Cape Coast Castle during the mutiny of the Gold Coast Artillery in October 1862, and received a vote
of thanks from the Colonial Government. Served in China in H.M.S. SodneyXiora September 1867 to September
1869; commanded the Royal Marine Artillery of the Battalion of Royal Marines from the Squadron at the occu-
pation of Yangchow in Nov. 1868 ; served with the Battalion at the attack and capture of three walled villages in
January 1869 (mentioned in despatches). Served with the Battalion of Royal Marine Artillery throughout the
Egyptian war of 1882, and was present in the engagements at El Magfar and Tel-el-Mahnta (slightly wounded),
in the action* at Kassasin on the 28th August (mentioned in despatches) and 9th September, and at the battle of
Telel-Kebir (Brevet of Lt. Colonel, Medal with Clasp, 4th Class of the Osmanieh, and Khedive's Star).
593 Major General J. R. Oliver served in the Indian campaign in 1857-58, including the action of Pandoo Nuddee,
operations of the 27th, 28th, and 29th Nov. before Cawnpore, and battle there on 6th Dec, actions of Kalee Nuddee
and Ramgunga, siege and capture of Lucknow, actions of Bareilly, Shahjehanpore, and Mohumdee, capture of
the Fort of Rampore Kusseah, passage of the Gogra at Fyzabad, and affair of Mucheegaun (mentioned in despatch,
Medal with Clasp) . Served in the Bhootan campaign in 1864-65, and commanded the Artillery of the left column at
the taking of the Fort of Dalimkote, and in the affair at Chamoorchee (mentioned in despatches, Medal with Clasp) .
591 Major General J. J. S. O'Neill served with the 20th Regiment in the Crimea from 30th May 1855, including
the siege and fall of Sebastopol, and was wounded at the affair of the 18th June; also present at the capture of
Kinbourn (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Served in the Indian campaign of 1857-58, including the
actions of Chanda, Umeerpore, and Sultanpore; siege and capture of Lucknow, subsequent operations in Oude,
and affairs of Meanguuge. Beerah (thanked in despatch), Bazar Ghat (as Brigade Major), Churda, and Fort of
Musjeedia (Medal with Clasp).
598 Major General C. H. Owen served the Eastern campaign of 1854-55, including the battle of Inkerman, siege
and fall of Sebastopol, in the Trenches with the siege train, ai.d bombardments of 17th October, 9th April, and 6th,
17th June, and 8th September (mentioned in despatches, Brevet of Major, Medal with two Clasps, Knight of the
Legion of Honor, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
603 Major General B. Parrott served the campaign of 1842 in Affghanistan under General Pollock (Medal).
6,2 Major General A. T. G. Pearse served in the Crimean campaign from July 1855, including the siege and fall
of Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal). Served in India in 1858, and was
present at the capture of Kotah on 30th March (Medal).
613 Major Neneral W. L. Pemberton served with the 60th Rifles in India during the mutiny, and was severely
wounded, with loss of two fingers of left hand at Cawnpore on the 27th Nov. 1857 (Medal/ Served in tne Zalu
war of 1879 and commanded one of t l ;e two divisions of the column raised for the relief of Ekowe, and was present
at the action of Gingindhlovu and relief of Ekowe (CB., Medal with Ula?p).
617 Major General J. Perkins served in the Punjaub campaign of 1848-49, including the attack on the Heights of
Moorpooria (Medal). Served with the Force under Sir Charles Napier that forced the Kohat Pass in Feb. 1850 ;
and with that under Sir Colin Campbell in 1851-52 and present at the capture and destruction of Dubb (Medal with
Clasp). Served also in the Indian Mutiny campaign in 1857, and was wounded at the action of Timmoor Ghaut
(mentioned in despatches, Medal).
6,8 Sir Joseph Philips served in the Zulu war in 1879 in command of the Royal Marines, and was present in the
engagement at Gingindhlovu and attlie relief of Ekowe (mentioned in despatches, Brevet of Major, Medal with
Clasp). Served in the Egyptian war ot 1882, and was present at the bombardment of the Alexandria Forts and in
the engagement at Ma.laha junction in command of Royal Marines (mentioned in despatches, Brevet of Lt. Colonel,
Medal with Clasp, 4th Class of the Osmanieh, and Khedive's Star).
619 Major General H. P. Phillipps served as Adjutant to the 1st Battalion 2nd Queen's throughout the cam-
paign of i860 iD North China (Medal with two Clasps for Taku Forts and Pekin).
620 Major General F. Phillips served throughout the Punjaub campaign of 1848-49, including the siege and sur-
render of Mooltan, battle of Goojerat, pursuit and surrender of the Sikh army (Medal with two Clasps).
621 Major General J. H. S. Pierce served with Colonel Scudamore's Flying Column in 1859, als0 witl1 Captain
Meade's Field Detachment in the same year, and was present at the capture of Tantia Topee.

present at the storming and caoturc ot Magdala (Medal).

■ present at Katikara and Rangiawhia. and commanded the expedition landed at White Cliffs (received the thanks
of the Major General Commanding, Medal). Served with the 70th Regiment in the Afghan war in 1878-92 (men-
tioned in despatches, Medal). Served in the Soudan campafgn in 1885 (mentioned in despatches, CB., Medal with

siege operations before Mooltan, including the storming of the Heights on the 27th and 2Sth Dec. 1S48, afterwards
