421 Captain A. K. Slessor served with tne Tirah Expeditionary Force in 1897-98, and was present at the action cf
Dargai, and the capture of the Sampagha and Arhanga Passes (Medal with two Clasps).
422 Captain R. G. M'Donnell served in South African war with the 2nd Battalion Royal Berkshire Regiment in 1899-
1901, and took part in operations in Cape Colony, south of Orange River, including the action at Colesberg. Served also,
as Commandant and Railway Staff Officer, Grahamstown.
423 Captain J. Lees served with the Expedition up the Gambia against the native chief Fodey Kabba in 1891-92
(Medal with Clasp).

Medal with two Clasps). Served in the South African war in 1899-1901 on the Staff, and took part in the operations
in the Orange Free State, Feb. to May 1900 ; in the Transvaal, May and June rgoo, including the actions near

427 Captain E. R. Taylor served in the Soudan campaign in 1885 (Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star).

'432 Captain Lumsden served in the Hazara Expedition in 1888 with the 2nd Battalion Seaforth Highlanders ,
(Medal with Clasp). Served in the Hazara Expedition in 1891 with the 2nd Battalion Seaforth Highlanders
(Clasp). Served in the campaign in the Soudan under Sir Herbert Kitchener in T898 attached to the 1st Battalion
Seaforth Highlanders, and was present at the battle of Khartoum (British Medal, and Khedive's Medal with
Clasp). Served in the South African war in i899-rgo2 -r.-ith the 2nd Battalion Seaforth Highlanders, and took
part in the advance on Kimberley, including the action at Magersfontein ; and the operations in the Orange Free
State, Feb. to May 1900, including the action at Paardeberg — severely wounded (Medal with three Clasps, King's
Medal with two Clasps).
4M Captain E. G. Elger served with the Burmese Expedition in 1886-87 with the 2nd Battalion Somersetshire
Light Infantr} T (Medal with Clasp). Served in the South African war in 1899— rgor, and took part in the operations
in Natal, r8g9 ; the relief of Ladysmith, including the operations of 17th to 24th Jan. 1900 and the action at Spion
Kop ; of 5th to 7th Feb. and the action at Vaal Krantz ; on Tugela Heights, 14th to 27th Feb. 1900 — wounded,

435 Captain Leslie served in South African war, and took part in the relief of Ladysmith ; was present at the actions
of Spion Kop, Vaal Krantz and Pieter's Hill ; operations in the Transvaal June 1900, and in Natal March to June 1900,
including action at Laing's Nek.
430 Captain Villiers served with the Unyoro Expedition, Central Africa, in 1893-94 (nominated to the 3rd Class of the
order of the Brilliant Star of Zanzibar for services to the Sultan of Zanzibar). Served in South African war in 1899-1900
with the South African Light Horse (mentioned in despatches, Medal with three Clasps).
437 Captain Scott served in the operations in Zululand in 1888. Served with the Dongola Expeditionary Force
