11 Major Tuson served with the Chitral Relief Force under Sir Rohert Low in 1895 (Medal with Clasp). Served
with the Tochi Valley Expedition in 1895 (Clasp^l; in the South African war in 1899-^02, and took part in the
relief of Kimberley — wounded, the actions at Paardeberg, Poplar Grove, Houtnek, Zand River, Johannesburg,
Pretoria, Diamond Hill, and Wittebergen ; operations in Orange River Colony 30th Nov. 1900 to Feb. 1901, and March
to June 1901 ; and in Cape Colony Feb. and March 1901, and June 1901 to 31st May 1902 (mentioned in despatches,
DSO., Medal with five Clasps, King's Medal with two Clasps).
12 Earl of Dunmore served with the Dongola Expeditionary Force under Sir Herbert Kitchener in 1896 with the
Egyptian Cavalry (British Medal, and Khedive's Medal with Clasp). Served in the campaign on the North West
Frontier of India under Sir William Lockhart in 1897-98 as Aide de Camp to Sir Bindon Blood, Commanding Mala-
kand Field Force, and was present in the engagement at Landakai ; also with the Buner Field Force as Aide de Camp
to Sir Bindon Blood (three times mentioned in despatches, Y€ and Medal with two Clasps); was awarded the
Victoria Cross for conspicuous bravery during the operations on the North West Frontier of India in 1897, as here
recorded : — * During the fighting at Nawa Kili, in Upper Swat, on the 17th August 1897, Lt. Colonel R. B. Adams
proceeded with Lieuts. H. L. S. MacLean and Viscount Fincastle, and five men of the Guides, under a very heavy and
close fire, to the rescue of Lieut. R: T. Greaves, Lancashire Fusiliers, who was lying disabled by a bullet wound
and surrounded by the enemy's swordsmen. In bringing him under cover he (Lieut. Greaves) was struck by a bullet
and killed — Lieut. MacLean was mortally wounded — whilst the horses of Lt. Colonel Adams and Lieut. Viscount
Fincastle were shot, as well as two troop horses." Served in the South African war in 1899-1900, 1902 on the Staff,
and took part in the relief of Kimberley ; the operations in the Orange Free State from Feb. to May 1900, including

M Captain Campbell served in the campaign on the North West Frontier of India under Sir William Lockhart in
1897-98 with the Tirah Expeditionary Force, in command of a Maxim Gun detachment of the 16th Lancers, and
was present at the capture of the Sampagha and Arhanga Passes, and in the operations in the Waran and Bara Valleys
(Medal with two Clasps). Served in South African war in 1S99-1901 on the Staff (mentioned in despatches, Medal with
three Clasps).
IS Captain Harris served in South African war in 1900-02, and took part in relief of Kimberley ; operations
in Orange Free State, Feb. to May 1900, including Paardeberg, and actions at Poplar Grove, Karree Siding. Houtnek,
Vet River and Zand River ; in Transvaal in May and Jnne 1900, including actions near Johannesburg ; in Transvaal,
west of Pretoria, with Elands River Relief Force ; in Orange River Colony, and actions at Wittebergen and Beth-

IT Captain Vanderbyl served in South African war in 1900, and took part in relief of Kimberley : operations in Orange
Fiee State, and actions at Paardeberg, Poplar Grove, Karree Siding, Houtnek, Vet River, and Zand River ; in Trans-
vaal, including actions near Johannesburg, Pretoria, and Diamond Hill ; in Transvaal, west of Pretoria, and action at
Elands River ; and in Orange River Colony, including actions at Bethlehem and Wittebergen — severely wounded (men-
tioned in despatches, Medal with five Clasps).
