1900), anil Cape Colony in 1900, bain; preseent at the ngagenients of Poplar Grova, Driefontein, Vet River, Zand
River, Johannesburg, Pretoria, Diamond Hill, Belfast and Komati Poort; and ha acted as Commandant at
Potehefstrootn (6th November to 4th December 1900), commanded a Mobile Column (December 1903 to June 1901),
commanded troops at Graafi Reinet and Aberdeen District (June to December 1901), a'.id has acted as Commandant
at Graafi Reinet District and commanded troops since December 1901 (four times mentioned in despatches, CB.).

6 Lt.Colonel Pleydell-Bouverie served with the 2nd Battalion of the Coldstream Guards in the Egyptian war of

ami Khedive's Star). Served in the Bechuanaland Expedition under Sir Charles Warren in 18S4-85.

the operations in the Transvaal (May to June 1900, July to October 1900, and November 1900), and in Cape Colony
in 1900, being present in the engagemennts at Belmont, Enslin, Modder River, Magersfontein, Poplar Grove, Drie-
fontein, Vet River, Zand Kiver, Johannesburg Pretoria, Diamond Hill, Belfast, and Komati Poort (mentioned in
despatches, DSO.). Acted as Commandant at Graaff Reinet, January 1900 to November 1901 (Brevet of Lt.Colonel).
8 Lt.Colonel Maxse served in the campaign in the Soudan under Sir Herbert Kitchener in 1897 on the Staff of
the General Officer Commanding, and was present in the engagement at Abu Hamed (mentioned in despatches,.
British Medal, and Khedive's Medal with two Clasps) ; in 1898 as a Brigade Major, when he was present at the
batles of the Atbara (mentioned in despatches) and Khartoum (mentioned in despatches, DSO., and two Clasps to

13 Captains Pakenham, Farquhar, aud Lord Newtown-Butler, and Lieut. Longueville served in the South African
campaign, taking part in the operations in the Orange Free State (February to May 1900), and the Transvaal (May
to June and July to October 19001, being present also at the actions at Belmont, Enslin, Modder River (except
Captain Farquhar), Magersfontein, Poplar Grove, Driefontein, Vet River, Zand River, Johannesburg, Pretoria,
Diamond Hill, Belfast and Komati Poort. Captains Pakenham and Farquhar and Lieut. Longueville were all
mentioned in despatches, and in addition the last-named took part in the operations in Cape Colony in 1900.
l'j Captain M'Neile and Lieuts. Jenkins, Heywood, and Jervis-Smith served in the South African campaign, taking
part in the operations in the Orange Free State (April to May 1900), the Transvaal (May to June 1900, July to
October 1900, and November 1900I, and Cape Colony in 1900, being present at the actions at Vet River, Zand Hiver,
Johannesburg, Pretoria, Diamond Hill, Belfast, and Komati Poort.
