served in the Nile Expedition in 1S84-S; as Senior Chaplain with the force (mentioned in despatches, promoted
chaplain of the 1 st Class, Clasp). Was present in the engagement at Giniss, on the UpperNile, on thciothDecem-
ler i3-5 (mentioned in despatches). Served with the Dongola Expeditionary Force under Sir Herbert Kitchener
in 1 2oi, including the engagement at Firket and the operations at Haflr (mentioned in despatches. 3rd Class of
the Mcdjidie, British Medal, and Khedive's Medal with two Clasps) ; and in the campaign in 1898, mcluding the
battles of the Atbara (mentioned in despatches) and Khartoum (mentioned in despatches, DSO. and two Clasps to
Khedive's Medal).
6 The Rev. R. C. Browne served in the Ashanti campaign under Sir Garnet Wolseley (Medal).
: The Rev. C. J. Coar served in the Znlu war of 1879, and was present in the engagement at Ulundi (mentioned
in despatches, promoted Chaplain ist Class, and Medal with Clasp).
s The Rev. J. A. W. CoUins served with the field force in the Waikato during the New Zealand war in 1S64-65,
and was present at the investment and capture of Orakau (thanked in brigade orders) . Also served with the field
force under Major General Chute in the Wanganui-Taranaki campaign in 1866, including the Bush march to
Taranaki, and was present at the assault and capture of Otapawa and Waikowkou Pahs, and the destruction of
Kelemarai and other places (mentioned in despatches, Medal).
:l The Rev. W. H. Bullock served in the Soudan campaign in i3S.=; as Senior Chaplain to the force (men-
tioned in despatches, promoted Chaplain ist Class, Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star).
10 The Rev. G. N. Godwin served in the operations near Suakin in December 188S including the engagement at
Gemaizah (Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star).
1 ' The Rev. J. Mactaggart served in the Zulu war in 1879 (Medal). Served in the Egyptian war of 1882, and was
present at the battle of Tel-el-Kebir (Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star); also served with the Soudan Ex-
pedition under Sir Gerald Graham in 1SS4, and was present in the engagements at El Teb and Temai (twr
Clasps). Served with the Nile Expedition in 1S84-S5, and was present at the action of Kirbekan (mentioned in
despatches, promoted Chaplain of the 3rd Class, two Clasps).
'- The Rev. R. S. Patterson was in Turkey in the Imperial Ottoman service during the war in the East. Served
as a Lieutenant in the Canadian Volunteer Rifles at the time of the Trent affair, and also in the first Fenian raid ;
accompanied, as Chaplain, the Red River expeditionary force of 1S70 under Sir Garnet Wolseley to Fort Garry
(Medal). Proceeded to the Gold Coast in September 1S73, and served thereuntil the capture of Coomassie (Medal).
14 The Rev. G. C. Williams served w'th the Baltic Expedition in 1854 (Medal).
