The officers of inland excise (which supports the army)
are not to be hindered in their duty. The brewing of ale by
camp-followers under hedges and ditches is very dangerous,
causing fluxes and other disorders, and escapes the revenue.
No one is to bring ale or beer into the camp till at least it is six
days old, nor without a certificate from the gauger that it is
well-brewed and has paid duty. All persons owing excise
to pay it.
