Complaints have been made of plundering by the army,
contrary to the articles of war and military discipline. Dis¬
cipline is to be strictly observed, and no plundering of
protestant or popish subjects allowed. Complaints, on oath
before a Justice of Peace, are to be sent to the Lords Justices
for investigation, and punishment or redress. If commanding
officers do not punish offenders redress will be made out of
their pay. All officers and soldiers to pay their quarters
out of their pay.

Owing to the harbouring of rebels near the frontier line,
it is declared that all within the line now laid down are
under the king's protection. All between this line and the
Shannon are to come in within twenty days to get protection
as long as they are 10 miles or more within the line. Any
persons found between the frontier and the Shannon after
13 March, except protestants with strong houses which they
can protect, are to be treated as spies.

nominal value of brass and copper coinage. As most of this
money is in the hands of the rebels, none of these coins

Protection
Irregular protections having been granted, all, except
those granted by the general of the army and the Secretary
of State for Ireland or for War, are voided from the end of
the next assizes. Judges to grant protection to all who
surrender their arms and take the oath of fidelity. A list
of protected persons to be left with the sheriff and the con¬
stable of the parish. No one to pay more than 6d. for
writing, signing, and sealing the protection.
