Every private centinel is to receive 2s. per week sub¬
sistence money. His yearly pay is to be £7. 18s. 4d., which
he receives thus 2s. a week=Jo. 4s. Coat and breeches
25s. id., hat 4s. 6d., 3 pairs of shoes 10s. 6d., 2 pairs of
stockings, 2s. 6d., 2 shirts 5s. 4d, 2 cravats, Is. 8d., 1 sash
2s. 6d., 1 pair gloves Is., 1 pair garters 6d., 1 pair shoe
buckles 6d. Each [sergeant] souldier to have 6s. subsistence
money, corporal and drum 4s. No deduction for clerks.
Captains to act as clerks. Any soldiers aggrieved may
petition by post if the pay is detained. Officers responsible
for order. Officers to pay respect to the judges. Regulations
for officers' leave in winter. Regulations for privates' leave.
All complaints to be laid in the first instance before the
commanding officer. This to be read and proclaimed in all
garrisons and towns.

Recites Declaration 20 July, No. 992, q.v. Gives regula¬
tion pay for a private/iorscmaw, £23. 14s. 7^d. ; out of which
subsistence money man and horse 6s. a week, £15. 12s.; a coat
and hat £2. 16s. ; remainder accounted quarterly, £5. 6s. 7^d.
Corporals, kettle-drums, and trumpets to have 10s. per week.
Dragoons to be paid £18. 9s. 3^d., 4s. Gd. a week subsistence
money £11. 14s., clothing 2d. a day for 336 days £2. 16s.,
remainder £3. 19s. 3^d., sergeants 8s. per week, corporal,
drum, and hoboy 4s. 6d. per week subsistence. Guard's
pay for private centinels £10. 12s. 9^d, subsistence 2s. 6d.
per week £0. 10s., clothing £3. 2s. 4(?., remainder £l. Os. 5^d.
A deduction may be made for mounts for horse and dragoons.
Rules as to Petitions: As to Divine Service. Roman Catho¬
lics to present certificate of Easter Communion. Chaplains
to exercise their duties and hear confessions freely. Rules
as to leave. Only one trumpeter per troop allowed. Rules
as to supervision. Rule as to aiding civil power. Soldiers'
pay not to be impressed. The officer and senior non-com¬
missioned officer of each troop is to keep a copy of the
articles of war and this declaration by him. This to be
proclaimed to all garrisons and posted up.
