As the grant for licensing the sale of ale and beer is illegal
and resumed, new orders must be issued for its regulation.
No one to sell ale or beer unless licensed. No licence to be
granted except by Commissioners appointed in each county
under Great Seal, chosen from the Justices of Peace and
others. The Commissioners to meet at Quarter Sessions
after Easter yearly, and choose fit persons to keep ale-houses
in convenient places, and not in bogs or woods. They are
to be licensed for one year and no longer, and enter into
recognizances to observe the assize of bread and ale and
beer, and to sell victuals to travellers at reasonable rates, to
keep two beds at least for travellers, and not to harbour any
stranger (unless for reasonable cause) above twenty-four
hours. Fee to be 3s. Gd. English and no more. Collector
to retain 6d. of this for his fee. Every licensed house shall
have some sign, stake, or bush at its door. Offenders to be
proceeded against in the Court of Exchequer. Powers of
Commissioners made general, to include all future instructions
as to licensing matters.

Certain factious persons have landed wines without paying
customs. Every tun of Spanish, Levant, or Canary wine is
to pay 40s. Irish, of France, Guyen,Gascoigne, or Rochell or
Rhenish, 26s. 8d., if belonging to subjects, 53s. 4d. and 40s.
if to aliens. Fermors and officers to collect these sums. All
wine importers to pay them on pain of displeasure.

Ireland, and publication of a book of rates ; also Privy Seal
31 Dec. 21 Jas. I ordering an amended book of rates, printed
1624. By letters ^latent 10 March, 7 Chas. I [1631-2] the
rates are confirmed except the following new rates:—Live
beasts, 2s. ; (English) stone (8 lb.) of wool, 4rf. ; pack of linen
yarn, four long hundred lbs., 20s.; cwt. of tallow, 18d. ;
butter, 2s. barrel ; herrings. Is. barrel; pilchers, 6s. tun ;
ruggps or sets, 12s. score ; hides, 6d. to England or Scotland,
Is. abroad ; Spanish wines to pay 26s. 8d. the butt on entry ;
French, 33s. 4d. the tun ; Salt, 2s. the weigh. Collectors of
customs, &c., to take notice. Book of rates to be amended
and newly imprinted.

Commission under his Great Scale of England.

with defective titles to appear before a Commission of Grace
on 30 November last. Persons who appeared in England
were not sufficiently prepared with informations. An

10 November next and secure their estates and possessions.
