A new standard of silver coin 9 oz. fine to be made, the
base coin 3 oz. fine to be called down. Copper pence and
halfpence may circulate. Quotes royal letter, Woodstock
17 September. New standard shillings are to pass for I2d.,
base shillings to be current for id. Mere copper coins to
remain current—not being legal tender for more than 50s.
in every £100, i.e. the fortieth part of any payment, and
it is legal tender up to 4d. for necessaries of life from poor
persons. Prices are not to be raised. Offenders to be
committed to gaol.
