At a Choice of Deacons. 1 Tim. iii. 8—IS.
T'AIR Sion’s King, we suppliant bow,
And hail the grace thy Church enjoys ;
holy Deacons are thy own,
h all the gifts thy love employs.
|jp to thy throne, we lift our eyes,
' ■ blessings to attend our choice,
iappy in Jesus their own Lord,
Jay they his sacred table spread,
J'he table of their pastor fill,
^Vnd fill the holy poor with bread!
t^hen pastor, saints, and poor they serve,
(day their own hearts with grace be crown’d!
While patience, sympathy, and joy
Adorn, and thro’ them lives abound.
8y mrest love to Christ, and truth,
D may they win a good degree
Of boldness in the Christian faith,
And meet the smile of thine and thee!
And when the work to them assign’d—
The work of love is fully done.
Call them from serving tables here,
To sit around thy glorious throne.
