The Duties of'Huthtnis it their Wives; t S}
2. Ifborh Husband and Wile be :n a State of Grace, they
jould be watchful oae ever tbe other, as to prevent Sin in
another, fo to redrefs it the beft Way they can, when
ither of them are fafleh thereinto by feafonable Admoniti-
n,yea, ani Reproof alfo if Admonition will not ferve. Here-
n Husband and Wife fhould more r«fpe£f the mutual Good
f one another, than fear the giving of Offence.
And it is likewife a fpecial Duty incumbent upon Husband
nd Wife to help forward the Growth of Grace in each o-
as by a frequent conferring together of good Things
peciaHy of what they hear in the publick Miniftry of the
/pi d ; fo likewife by a conftant performiiig Family Duties,
'pecially grayer. Tho this Duty appertain chiefly to the
usband, yet the Wife ought to put her Husband in mind
lereof, if he forget it 2 and to Air him up if he be hack*
rard.
. Another mutual Duty, is to conceal and" cover the In-
rmities of one another. There is no Min or Woman with-
ut their Infirmities; it will be there/ere y,our Wiidoni tq
onceal the fame fo far as you can with a good Coafcience.
aid truly, this is one fpecial Aft and Exercife of Love, to
;ek to cover and conceal the Infirmities of thofe wherji they
>ve. How blame.worthy, then are they who take ail
lecafions to fpread abroad one anothers Infirmities, and
nny Times belie one another ? This Fault is fo much the
reater in two efpecial Refpefts:
. Becaufe the Husband and Wife know more ofone an-
thefs Iafirmities2 and therefore, if they be fi> ilkminded,
r more dtfcredit and defame one another, than any other.
Becaufe of all other, they are moA bound to canceal one
nothers Infirmities, by reafon of their near Union.
