AN appeal has been sent to Highlanders throughout
the world to rally to the fund that has been
launched to provide a new social Centre for
Highlanders in Glasgow. The appeal is a “fiery
cross’ ’ to all clansmen, summoning them to the support
of this venture aimed at providing a “Home from
Home’’for all Highlanders in the city of Glasgow—
the most Highland of all cities.
In conjunction with the fund a Grand Bazaar is to
be held in Glasgow on 3rd, 4th, and 5th June, 1954.
The entire St. Andrew’s Halls has been taken over for
this Bazaar.
Throughout Scotland, goods are being collected for
the Bazaar. In many a small village in the far North
the women folk are busy knitting articles for sale.
Several Societies in Glasgow are providing wool and
other material free for goods to be made that will help
in bringing in the required £50,000.
This is the biggest combined Highland effort for
many years, and has the backing of thousands of
Highlanders in Glasgow and throughout the World.
Here is a cause well worthy of all the support that
Gaels at home and abroad can give.

Onich, and found preparations for the local
Mod in progress. At Banavie six additional
members were enrolled in Comunn na h-Oigridh.
Thursday, 25th March, found me in the
Badenoch area. From observations made at
Newtonmore, Kingussie, Nethy Bridge,
Aviemore, and Dulnain Bridge, I found steady
preparation for the first Mod of the session at
Grantown-on-Spey on 30th April.
On the following day, 26th March., I pro¬
ceeded to Glasgow to attend the all-Gaelic
meeting of the Executive Council of An Comunn
on the following morning. On my way back I
called at Fort William to consult with Mr.
Lachlan MacKinnon about Camps and Schools
to be held at Cn6c-nan-R6s, Tain, in July
and August. D. McP.
