4. Crofters* Act

10. General
Festivals are to be encouraged in the communities,
and An Comunn Gaidhealach will explore the
possibility of having festivals within each
An Comann Region each year- We will also
seek a Gaelic input in respect of current
festivals, e.g. the Edinburgh Festival.
A study will be undertaken with a view to
establishing this at an appropriate time.
A travelling show is in the course of
preparation, and will be ready for taking
throughout Scotland in 1986.
A book is being prepared, which will contain
a variety of writings previously published in
”An Gaidheal". The book will be suitable
for all who have an interest in the stories
and pastimes of previous generations, and it
is hoped that it will be a means of giving
a taste of these to the young who are growing
up in a different world.
Debates and competitions will be carried out
among the young, and sponsorship and status
will be sought for this work.
An Comann will be 100 years old in 1991.
It is proposed that 1991 be designated
"National Gaelic Year" and preparations
must be initiated without delay. In
order to mark this, it would be sought to
have to hand then the ability to commence
a National Gaelic Centre. Methods for
establishing a feasibility study are to
be looked at.
The National Mod will continue each year.
Ways as to how the Mod (and Community Mods)
can best support Gaelic will be examined.
An Comunn seeks to be actively involved with
the young, through Oighrean a' Chomuinn.
An Comann will continue to fight for the
language in every appropriate way.
