DescriptionA pocket manuscript Gospel produced in Ireland. It contains the Gospel of St. Mark (folios 1r-32v), the Gospel of St. Luke (folios 34r-71r) and the Prologue of the Gospel of St. John, fragmentary (folios 71v-72r). With four large zoomorphic initials with beast and interlace motifs. New chapters are introduced by initials coloured either red, yellow, or purple. Initials throughout the work are stroked with red and the marginal annotations are boxed in red. There are various notes in later hands throughout.

Medieval and early modern manuscripts
DescriptionA selection of over 200 volumes of medieval and early modern manuscripts, dating from the 9th to the 17th century. Some of Scotland's most important early manuscripts are included in the many Scottish volumes. These are complemented by interesting and significant works of international origin, including volumes from France, England, the Low Countries, Italy and a number of other countries. Most of the manuscripts were collected by the Advocates Library, the forerunner of the National Library of Scotland.
