216 GREENOCK CRICKET CLUB, SEASON 1933
GREENOCK v. FERGUSLIE at Meikleriggs- —July 1st,
1933.
Extract from
Greenock Telegyaph
of July 3rd, 1933.
" After scoring 236 for the loss of only six wickets, Greenock.
were deprived of victory over Ferguslie at Meikleriggs by the
dourness of the Paisley team's last batsmen, who staved off defeat
by playing dogged cricket. The outstanding feature of the match
was W. A. B. Smith's century—scored in well under an hour.
His hectic innings during which he twice knocked the ball right
out of the park was greatly appreciated by the spectators."
