GREENOCK CRICKET CLUB, SEASON 1894 39
GREENOCK
v.
UDDINGSTON at Glenpark—August 11th,
1894.
Extract from
Greenock Telegyaph
of August 13th, 1894.
" The Greenock went in at a quarter to five o'clock, and a
rapid rate of scoring at once became the rule, the Uddingston
fielders being kept pretty lively. The first wicket produced 52
runs, but when the second and third fell at the same total the
visitors thought the rot had set in, and their hopes accordingly
rose high. However, R. G. Adam and McDougall saved the game
right off, the latter spanking the ball in all directions for four's
and sixes, whilst to both players boundary hits were common.
The two Ballantines kept up the pace, and although the game was
easily won, Greenock played out time and gained the victory very
decisively by 115 runs."
