"What e'er he faid or might pretend,
That dole that heart of thine, Mary j
True love I'm fure was ne'er his end,
Or nae fuch love as mine, Mary.
I fpoke fincere nor flatter'd much,
Had no unworthy thoughts, Mary ;
Ambition, wealth, nor naething fuch,
No — I lov'd only thee, Mary.
Tho* you've been falfe, yet while I live,
No other maid I'll woo, Mary ;
Till friends forget, and I forgive
Thy wrongs to them and me, Mary.
So then farewell : of this be fure,
Since you've been falfe to me, Mary ]
For all the world I'd not enthire,
Half what I've done for thee, Mary.
