And drap the hale creation,
"Whene'er fhe fmiles a kindly glance,
I tak the happy omen,
And aften mint to make advance,
Hoping (he-ll prove a woman : ^ 20

My fentiments I fmother j
With fecret fighs 1 vex my heart,
For fear fhe loves another.
Thus fang blate Edie by a burn, 25
His Chrifty did o'er-hear him 5
She d'QUghtna let her lover mourn,
But, e'er he will, drew near him.
She fpake her favour with a look,
"Which left nae room to doubt her 5 30
He v/ifely this white minute took,
And ilang his arm_s about her.

Sic joys frae tears ariiing, \
J wiih this may na be a dream '^ ' ^^

Time was too precious now for tauk j
