Had I my liorfe and my liarnefs gude,

Lang live thou laird of Mangertoun •,
Lang mayfl thou dw^eli on the border fyde,

John murdred was at Carlingrigg,

Becaufe they fav'd their country delr
Frae Inglifhm^en j nane were fae bald,
Quhyle Johnie liv'd on the border fyde, 120
Nane of them durfl cum neir his hald.
