In the gay rofy morn, as it bathes in the dew ; :
And gentle the fall of the loft vernal fhower,
That ileals on the ev'ning each leaf to renew. >
O fpare the dear bloiTom, ye orient breezes,
With chill hoary wing, as ye ufher the dawn :
And far be thou diftant, thou reptile that feizes
The verdure and pride of the garden and lawn. I
Let Bourbon exult in his gay gilded lilies,
And England, triumphant, difplay her proud rofe
A fairer than either adorns the green vallies,
'Where Devon, fweet Devon, meandering flows. I
