Oer the hills and far away,
JOCKT met with Jenny fair,
Aft be the dawing of the day ;
But Jocky now is fu' of care,
Since Jenny flaw his heart away :
Altho' file promis'd to be true,
She proven has alake ! unkind ;
Which gars poor Jocky often rue,
That he e'er Ico'd a fickle mind.
And its o'er the hills and far away*

The wind has hlawn my plaid away*
Now Jocky was a bonny lad,
As e'er was born in Scotland fair ;
But now, poor man, he's e'en gane wood ,,
Since Jenny has gart him defpair.
Young Jocky was a piper's fon,
And fell in love when he was young ;
But a' the fprings that he cou'd play,
Was o'er the hills and far away ,
And its o'er the hills, Sec.
He fung — — when firft my Jennf% face

With meikle joy my heart was fiil'd,
That's now alas ! with forrow kuTcL
Oh ! was me but as true as fair,
' Fwad put an end to my defpair.
Inrteadof that ihe is unkind,
