His wifhes tho' fond, I as fondly repaid,

Our pleafure was mutual and mutual our pain.
Still fortune relentlefs our union denied,
In queft of more treafure to India he went,
But there, haplefs youth, to my forrow he died,
And left me for ever his fate to lament.
Gay hopes and delightful prefages adieu,
Adieu ye foft whifpers of tender defire;
From thee my dear fw-ain thefe emotions firft grew,
