WIne, wine in a morning,
Makes us frolic and gay,
That like eagles we foar,
In the pride of the day ;
Gouty lots of the night
Only find a decay.
Tis the fun ripes the grape,
And to drinking gives light ;
We imitate him,
When by noon we*re at height 1
They fteal wine who take it,
When he's out of fight.
Boy, fill the glaffes,
Fill them up, now he mines $
The higher he rifes,
The more he refines ;
for wine and wit fall,
As their maker declines.
LET a fet of fober afles
Rail againft the joys of drinking,
While water, tea,
And milk agree,
To fet cold brains a-thinking ;
Power and wealth,
Beauty, health,
Wit and mirth in wine are crown'd •;
Joys abound,
Pleafure's found
Only where the glafs goes round,
