If I did offence, I'se make ye amends
Before I leave Peggy's mill O.
O the mill, mill O, and the kill, kill O,
And the coggin of the wheel O :
The sack and the sieve, a' that ye maun leave,
And round with a sodger reel O.

When wild war's deadly blast was blawir,
xVnd gentle peace returning,
Wi' mony a sweet babe fatherle.s>5,
And mony a widow mourning :
I left the lines and tented field.
Where lang I'd been a lodger.
My humble Jinapsack a' my Avealth,
A poor and honest sodger.
\ leal, light heart was in my breast.
My hand unstain'd wi' plunder :
And for fair Scotia, hame again,
I cheery on did wander.
I thought upon the banks o' Coil,
I thought upon my Nancy,
I thought upon the witching smile
That caught my youthful fancy.,
