[Edinburgh] : Printed for the Author and Sold at his house foot of Carrubbers Close and at all the Music Shops Edinburgh. Mc. Gouan Glasgow. Longman & Brodrip [sic] London. Mrs. Rhimes [sic] & Mr. Lee Dublin., [1792-1804]. 6 volumes in 5. The 1st 4 volumes are dated [1792], [1794], [1800] and [1800] respectively, Volume 2 dated by its preface which includes "month of January next 1795"; Volumes 5 and 6 were published as a single vol. in 1804. Volume 5/6 has the title: "A select collection of original Scotish [sic] airs with select and characteristic Scotch & English verses the most part of which written by the celebrated R. Burns ... "

DescriptionScottish songs and music of the 18th and early 19th centuries, including music for the Highland bagpipe. These are selected items from the collection of John Glen (1833 to 1904). Also includes a few manuscripts, some treatises, and other books on the subject.
Special collections of printed music
DescriptionThe Glen Collection and the Inglis Collection represent mainly 18th and 19th century Scottish music, including Scottish songs. The collections of Berlioz and Verdi collected by bibliographer Cecil Hopkinson contain contemporary and later editions of the works of the two composers Berlioz and Verdi.
