Description | A selection of items relating to Sir Walter Scott (1771 to 1832). They include the manuscripts for 'Waverley', ‘Redgauntlet’ and 'Rob Roy', Scott's novels focusing on the Jacobite risings of 1745 and 1715. Also available are the manuscripts for ‘The Heart of Mid-Lothian’ and ‘Marmion’. A volume of 'The Border Antiquities of England and Scotland' has extensive annotations by Scott. A published version of 'The Lay of the Last Minstrel’ has annotations by the novelist William Beckford. There is a volume of Scott's letters, poems and prose, including a series of letters to the publisher John Murray II. |
