took my Bible along with me, in order to join at it. I went to Secret Prayer
before I went, but was much straitned, and had little access to God in it. By
the way, when we were a pretty good distance from my Masters house, he
askd me. If I had told my Father of my going to Glasgow? I told him I had
not: he answered I might I might have done it. My masters Son (), who
had also been awakned shortly before, and another young man () who had
been greatly comforted went along with us, with the same view, I believe,
with my self. But while we went on, especially when we were got near, to
Glasgow, I found my self in a very dark dead & lifeless frame: My Master
left us in a house in the Bridge-gate, bidding us stay there, till he went to
that Ministers, to see if he were ready to receive us, telling us he would
come back for us. However he came not, but after we had tarried about an

much sweetness, I will be thy God and the God of thy people,14 which and
I immediatly told all the Company, what the Lord was telling me. I was
afterward told by the other two young men that went with me, that at
this time, that Minister was retird to another Room with them: We were
however all sent away, and nothing like worship was there while we were
present. But when the other two told me [288/-]15 by the way that that
Minister had askd me If I had seen Christ with my bodily Eyes & that I had
answered, Yes []16 I was so filled with grief & confusion at the thoughts
that I had so much dishonoured God by uttering that Word, that I knew
not what to do with my self, and I would gladly have gone where none
might see me & mourn before the Lord. But the other two obliged me to
go home along with them. But by the way going in to the Kirk, while one
