110 THE REGISTER OF CONSULTATIONS
of hope there is to expect from us that more shall be done,
is expressed in the 4th article of our present overtures.
To the 4th queree on this article wee answere, that our
procedure in the work of purgeing both for forme of
processe and causes of censure shall be according to the
Acts of these Generali Assembhes which did preceed our
present differences, as in the 4th article of our present
overtures.
To the queree upon the 3d, 4th, and 5th articles wee
answer, As the overture importeth Synods must, not¬
withstanding of their former determinations, determine
of new in those particulars, so it importeth renouncing
appeales already made in these particulars, that so they
may be taken to new consideration ; but so that if, after
the new determinations, anie parrtie or parties be greived
with it, they may have liberty to appeale from it as is
provided in the 8th article of our present overtures.
2, Wee know no other Synods which can determine in these
particulars but the Synod of the bounds. But 3, Wee
concede that there be a committee of arbiters to compose
these differences in the particulars in the 3d and 4th articles,
amicablie and antecedently to the Synod’s new determina¬
tion in them as appeares from the 7th article of our present
overtures.
To the queree in the 6th article wee answere, The em¬
ploying of more Ministers than two in the case mentioned
in the queree is contrarie to the express words of the Act
of the Assemblie 1645. As to the querees on the 7th
article, though we conceive if so we unit in other things,
there will not be great necessitie to urge this article par¬
ticularly here, seeing it is included in the overtures pre¬
sently offered to our Brethren, yet for their satisfaction
we give those answers to the querees upon it, and to the
1st, Though we hold the two late Assemblies to be among
the superior judicatories of this Kirk, yet we mean not
those Assembhes by the superior judicatories in this
article. To the 2d, Some amicable and satisfactory way
wee doubt not may be thought upon by the fore-men¬
tioned arbiters, how the bypast Acts of contraverted
