LETTERS TO MARY OF LORRAINE 189
CXXIX
From David Panter, Bishop of Ross, to the
Queen Dowager
1553. Vol. iv. 145.
As the bearer is returning towards the Queen, the writer takes the
opportunity of thanking her for the news she has sent. He is sorry that
he has none worth her hearing. Since M. d’Oysel will return soon, he
begs her to obtain from the Governor a postponement of his own departure
until M. d’Oysel arrives, so that, being fully informed regarding his
mission, he may be able to carry it out the better. Written from
Edinburgh on the 30th December 1553.
