BALCARRES PAPERS
et sante parfaicte. Escript a Cristofrin ce dimanche matin
xxje jour de juillet.1
vostre tres humble et tres obeissant a jamais oblige
serviteur d’Apestegny.
Endorsed, Le general d’Apestegny.
LIV
From Jehan Chesnyn to the Bishop of Ross
1550. Vol. iv. 139.
Knowing the bad turn which Loys Boutin played the Bishop by leaving
him in the lurch, and that he wished another French secretary, he thinks
the bearer will be suitable. Since his departure all goes well. He is
engaged over the business of the basse marche, and has letters of the King
to compel all accounts to be brought to M. Seguier, who has to make
a valuation. The Bishop knows how strictly he valued Chatelherault to
their great loss ; it seems as if a present of fine hackneys would be
advisable, but the Bishop might send his commands. He begs him to
remember him for the post of secretary to Monseigneur. Written from
Paris on the 21st September 1550.
A MONSEIGNEUR M. DE ROSSE.2
