benefice, value not expressed, wont to be governed by a canon of
the said church and vacant by the death outside the curia of Janies
Biset, late prior. On 6 Id. Mar. last [10 Mar., 1418], John had been
provided to the said priory, but in ignorance of this had conspired
in the election of Janies de Haldeston, calling himself canon of St
Andrews, by the canons of the said church. John had then accom¬
panied James to the curia of Oddo de Colonna calling himself
Martin v, against the edicts of Benedict, and of Robert, duke of
Albany, and governor of Scotland, with the advice and consent of
several princes and barons of the realm, where James was confirmed
in his election. On the return journey John had learned at Bruges,
Tournai diocese, of his own provision and he had immediately set
off to Benedict’s curia where, although having all stain and inhability
contracted in the above abolished, he was held to demit the priory;
but by this he is again granted the provision to the priory even if
it is unlawfully detained by James de Haldeston.1

Concurrent mandate to the abbot of Dunfermline, the dean of
Brechin and the precentor of Segorbe.

To the bishop of Glasgow. Mandate to receive outside the curia by
papal authority from John de Hawyk, holding the precentorship of
Glasgow together with the vicarage of Mernys, Glasgow diocese
without a papal dispensation, the resignation of the said parish,
church, value not exceeding 20 merks sterling to a non-resident,
and to provide to it, Nicholas de Oturburne, clerk, 19 years old,
said diocese, fourth year student at St Andrews and recently dis¬
pensed of his defect of age to hold a benefice with or without cure.2

Hay, of noble birth on both sides, 19 years old, second year student
of arts, clerk, St Andrews diocese, to all the rights to a canonry and
prebend of Glasgow claimed by Alexander de Lawder. On 3 Non.
