270 LETTERS OP POPE BENEDICT XIII

To the precentor of Glasgow. Mandate to reserve to Patrick de
Kyrkmichaell, priest, perpetual vicar of the parish church of
Dorisder, Glasgow diocese, a benefice of the kind wont to be
assigned to secular clerks, in the gift of the abbot and convent of
Kelso, osb, to the value of 25 merks sterling if with cure, and to
the value of 18 merks sterling if without cure; but on his peaceful
assecution to such a benefice he is held to demit the perpetual
vicarage.

To Alexander de La wader, clerk, St Andrews diocese. Indult for
Alexander, of knightly birth, brother of William, bishop of Glas¬
gow, student of canon law, to hold two incompatible benefices with
or without cure, even if two dignities, two parsonages or two offices
in cathedral or collegiate churches, or two parish churches, provided
the two dignities are not major or principal ones in the cathedral or
collegiate churches, with powers of exchange outside the curia at
the hands of the ordinary; but within three years of his peaceful
assecution to the incompatibles he is held to exchange one for a
compatible benefice otherwise at the end of the three years he is
held to demit one or other of the benefices.1

To William, bishop of Glasgow. Robert, duke of Albany, had
wanted Elizabeth Danyelston, daughter of the late Sir Robert de
Danyelston, nephew of the duke, to marry Sir Robert de Maxwell,
Glasgow diocese, but as they were related in the fourth degree of
consanguinity a dispensation was necessary. Peter, former bishop of
Tusculum, cardinal priest of St Peter in Chains and, at that time,
before the withdrawal of France’s obedience, penitentiary of Pope
