17-19 BENEDICT XIII
3 November, 13321 Reg Aven 337, 591-591V
To John de Leys, canon of Dunkeld. Provision of John to the parish
church of Kynelle, St Andrews diocese. James, late bishop of St
Andrews, had been granted faculty to dispense John, at that time
his domestic chaplain and who had expectation of a benefice with
cure, to hold such a benefice along with the perpetual vicarage with
cure of Abemethi, Dunblane diocese; but before the faculty
arrived James by ordinary authority had collated John to the said
parish church of Kynelle, and then he died before putting the faculty
into effect which thus became invalid and John had not obtained
possession of the parish church. John is now provided to the church
as above, notwithstanding that he is known to hold a canonry and
prebend of Dunkeld, a canonry of Glasgow with expectation of a
prebend, the aforesaid perpetual vicarage, and has been received as
a canon in the church of Dunblane by the bishop of Dunblane,
and that he was lately provided to a canonry of Moray with expecta¬
tion of a prebend combined value not exceeding £22 sterling,
and has also ^7 annually in pensions; and he is moreover dispensed
to retain the parish church and perpetual vicarage together,
notwithstanding decrees of general councils or any others to the
contrary.
Avignon, 3 Non. Nov., anno 17.
Concurrent mandate to the bishop of Brechin, the prior of St
Andrews, and the precentor of Dunkeld.
