Andrews diocese, which he had obtained after being dispensed of a
defect of birth as the son of a married man and an unmarried woman
to be promoted to all holy orders and to hold a benefice even if with
cure, with powers of exchange for other compatible benefices not¬
withstanding his defect of birth or any constitutions to the contrary.

To the dean of Dunkeld, the archdeacon of Moray and the official
of Dunkeld. Indult abolishing all stain, inhability and infamy con¬
tracted by Alexander de Brochi, subdeacon, Moray diocese, through
holding for about nine years the parish church of Alith, Dunkeld
diocese, value not exceeding -£10 sterling of silver to a non-resident,
which he had obtained on the death outside the curia of Donald de
Alith, late vicar, being provided to it by Robert, late bishop of
Dunkeld, by ordinary authority, notwithstanding a legitimate
impediment from which he had not been dispensed and notwith¬
standing that he had not been promoted to priests orders. Alexander,
of noble birth, is held to demit the church but he is then to be
provided to the benefice thus vacant.1

shing all stain and inhability contracted by Alexander in that on the
death outside the curia of Donald de Alitht, vicar of the parish
church of Alitht, Dunkeld diocese, Alexander had been collated and
provided to the vacant church by Robert, late bishop of Dunkeld,
by ordinary authority, and he had peacefully possessed the church for
about nine years without a papal dispensation of an impediment
and without being promoted to the priesthood, but he is held to
demit the church.2
