To the bishop of Glasgow. Mandate at the petition of Archibald,
earl of Douglas, lord of the place of Bothwil, to erect a collegiate
church at the parish church of Bothwil, Glasgow diocese, whose
right of patronage he has, and whose rector, John Leche, has died,
instituting six chaplains and a provost who will have the cure of
souls. The presentation of the provost to the ordinary, and of the
chaplains to the provost, will pertain to Archibald and his successors
and the right of correction of the provost is to pertain to the
ordinary and of the chaplains to the provost, and Archibald is to
provide as a dowry to the church from his territory of Orbamston
a certain chapel, whose rector receives nine merks sterling and also
two parish churches under his patronage and which he shall choose
to unite and incorporate to the church of Bothwil, and moreover
unless he assigns in perpetuity as a dowry certain rents and belong¬
ings to the value of -£20 sterling, then the erection will not be valid.
The provost and the chaplains are also to be allowed to appoint
if they wish a perpetual vicar each, with sufficient resources to pay
episcopal dues, other incumbent duties and to support himself.

To master John Forester, canon of Aberdeen, lic.dec., m.a., papal
chaplain. Indult granting John who had been sent to the pope by
king Robert and who holding a canonry and prebend in the church
of Aberdeen and the parish church of Strabroc, St Andrews diocese,
was provided on the 3 Id. Oct., anno 1 [13th Oct., 1394], to a
canonry of Glasgow with reservation of a prebend, the priorities of
a papal familiar.
