LETTERS OF POPE BENEDICT XIII
diocese, and the domus dei near the walls of Moray. Indult that
William who had obtained a canonry of Glasgow with expectation
of a prebend should have this effected as though it had been inserted
in the roll of supplications of papal familiars of date 3 Kal. Oct. [29
Sept.], and that he should have the privileges of a papal familiar.
Avignon, 5 Id. Sept., anno 3; expedited, 3 Kal. Oct., anno 3 [29
Sept., 1397]; consigned, Kal. Oct., anno 3 [1 Oct., 1397].

To Bean, elect of Argyll. Provision to the bishopric of Argyll of

of John, bishop of Argyll, outside the curia, although the pope had
reserved the provision.
Avignon, 15 Kal. Oct., anno 3; expedited, 5 Non. Oct., anno 3 [3
Oct., 1397]; consigned, 4 Non. Oct., anno 3 [4 Oct., 1397].

18 September, 1397 Reg Aven 302, 460V
Ad futuram rei memoriam. On 3 Id. Oct., anno 1 [13 Oct., 1394],
William de Camera, canon of Glasgow, had been provided to a
canonry of Glasgow with expectation of a prebend with or without
cure, whether an elective dignity, parsonage or office, vacant or to
be vacant; and on the same day a benefice with or without cure,
even if a canonry and prebend, a dignity parsonage or office in a
cathedral church, reserved to papal provision in the churches and
cities of Glasgow, vacant on or after 6 Id. Feb. next [8 Feb., 1395].
was reserved to William MacMoran; and on his acceptance of such
a benefice he was to be awarded all the privileges of a papal familiar
as if he had been a papal familiar at the time of the reservation.
Since, however, doubt might arise as to who should have preference
in obtaining such a benefice, it is now resolved in favour of William
de Camera, who while in minor orders and discharging duties as
a nuncio in the kingdom of France, was received as a papal familiar.
Avignon, 14 Kal. Oct., anno 3; expedited, 3 Kal. Oct., anno 3 [29
Sept. 1397]; consigned, Kal. Oct., anno 3 [1 Oct., 1397].
