canonry of Glasgow and the prebend of Barlanark as a reserved
benefice henceforward to be united and joined to the archdeaconry.
Clement vn had provided John to a canonry of Glasgow and the
prebend of Drysdere, willing him to demit Barlanark which he
then held; and Benedict xm on his accession confirmed all
Clement’s reservations and the prebend of Barlanark was held to be
vacant although unlawfully occupied by Alexander Stewart, St
Andrews diocese. John, however, had since shown that the revenues
of the archdeaconry and parish church of Merbolotry, situated on
the boundary between England and Scotland, which was the pre¬
bend joined to the archdeaconry, were much diminished by wars
and therefore this mandate of provision is granted.
