dignity, value not exceeding 50 gold francs to a non-resident, vacant
through the provision by Clement vn of John, former prior, to
the monastery of Dunfermline, on which monastery Urquhart is
dependent, and by a monk of which monastery it is wont to be
served, or vacant by the resignation of John outside the curia or in
any other way.1

To Symon de Lanark, deacon, Glasgow diocese. Indult for Symon,
dispensed of a defect of birth as the son of an unmarried man and
an unmarried woman to be promoted to all holy orders and to
hold a benefice even if with cure, by virtue of which he had himself
promoted through the four minor orders and the sub-diaconate to
deacons order, to be dispensed of a defect of age, being 23 years old,
to hold another benefice, provided it is not a canonry and prebend
in a cathedral, together with the other benefice with powers of
exchange for two only incompatible benefices; and if he is provided
to a benefice before he has reached the canonical age then he is
dispensed to be promoted to priest’s orders notwithstanding his
defect of birth, or the decrees of the council of Poitou or the Lateran
councils to the contrary.

from Andrew de Hawyk, St Andrews diocese, unmarried clerk and
not constituted a priest, the oath of fealty on his being made a
