John Logie Baird's demonstrations of 'seeing in total darkness by television' are the subject of Ronald F Tiltman's article. He describes Baird's 'noctovision' as 'an outstanding wonder'.

Tiltman recounts the experiments with television that Baird conducted across 170 miles in September 1927. At the British Association meeting in Leeds, people seated in darkness were seen 'as if under normal lighting conditions on a receiving screen in London'.

He also discusses infra-red rays, and illustrates the article with a diagram showing infra-red rays on the frequency spectrum.

As soon as noctovision was achieved, he says, it was demonstrated before 'Military, Air Force and Naval experts'. Further tests were later carried out in London.

The article appeared on pages 40-42 in the first issue of 'Television', published in March 1928.
