Lieut. John Hamilton, M.C.
Camel Transport Corps, Egypt.
Twice mentioned in despatches (Murray's).
Lieut. Hamilton, Finance Department. Enlisted
September, 1914, in the Royal Field Artillery.
Drafted to Egypt, and having previous experience
with the handling of native labour there he was soon
transferred to the Camel Corps, and afterwards
received his Commission. He was awarded the
Military Cross for conspicuous gallantry and devotion
to duty. Was responsible for getting the ammunition
of the division safely away on five occasions under
heavy shell fire, and supplied the guns with shells
when others had failed to get through the barrage.
