1912 to Martinmas 1914. Second Lieutenant, 10th
(Service) Battalion, The Highland Light Infantry.
Born 21st February 1895. Reported " missing," later
presumed killed near Festubert, 12th July 1915.
* Alexander Brough, Student in Arts and Science,
1911-15. Second Lieutenant, 12th (Service) Battalion,
The Cameronians (Scottish Rifles). Born 1st January
1893. Killed in action at Suvla, the Dardanelles,
17th November 1915.
* David Buchan, M.A. 1913. Lieutenant, 11th (Service)
Battalion, The Gordon Highlanders. Born 28th Sep-
tember 1886. Killed in action, between Arras and
Cambrai, 9th April 1917, in the Battle of Arras.

Divisional Officer of Tirupatur, Indian Civil Service.
Second Lieutenant, Indian Army Reserve of Officers.
Born 7th October 1889. Died at Madras of enteric
fever, contracted while on Recruiting Service, 7th
February 1918.
The Rev. John Cargill, M.A. 1897. Assistant
Minister at Scoonie Parish. Enlisted April 1915, 1st
Battalion, The Black Watch (Royal Highlanders).
Commissioned Second Lieutenant, January 1916, 7th
Battalion. Born 17th October 1875. Died of wounds
received in action near Arras, while Acting Captain of
" C " Company, 24th April 1917, in the Battle of Arras.
* James Stewart Chalmers, M.A. 1912. Second Lieu-
tenant, 12th (Service) Battalion, Princess Louise's
(Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders). Attached 1st
Battalion, The Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders.
Born 23rd July 1891. Died in Glasgow, 7th October
1916, from wounds received on the Somme.
