LIEUTENANT GEORGE PURVES-RUSSELL BALFOUR-KINNEAR,
35 Queen Street, Edinburgh.
Received Commission in Royal Flying Corps in May 1916. Went to France
in June 1916 as Equipment Officer. Took part in 1st Battle of the Somme
and was invalided home in December 1916. Afterwards gazetted to the
Staff of the Air Ministry, London. Mentioned in Dispatches.
GEORGE MURRAY LAWSON, 13 Melville Street, Edinburgh.
Enlisted in Royal Fusiliers in August 1916. Served in France from
November 1916 till April 1917 when wounded and returned to this country.
Relegated to Army Reserve in January 1918.
CAPTAIN JAMES G. GREENSHIELDS LEADBETTER, M.C., Younger
of Spital Tower, Denholm, Roxburghshire. (Apprentice.)
Received Commission as 2nd Lieutenant in 1st Lanarkshire Yeomanry
21st January 1914. Promoted Lieutenant 28th October 1915 and Captain
27th June 1917. Served in Gallipoli from 27th September 1915 until 31st
December 1915. Thereafter in Egypt, Palestine, and Syria until 27th
January 1919. Awarded Military Cross.
LIEUT.-COLONEL ARCHIBALD STEWART LESLIE, C.M.G., T.D.,
33 Queen Street, Edinburgh.
Mobilised with 1st Scottish Horse as Major in August 1914. Served at
Dardanelles from August 1915 till September 1915, when invalided home.
Attached to War Office Staff from September 1916 till April 1917;
appointed Directorate of Forestry, France, in April 1917. Promoted
Lieut. -Colonel. Awarded C.M.G. and mentioned in Dispatches.
CAPTAIN WILLIAM LIDDLE, 5 Hill Street, Edinburgh.
Received Commission as 2nd Lieutenant in gth Royal Scots. Thereafter
promoted Captain. Served in France and Flanders. Died from double
pneumonia on 27th September 1918 at Casualty Clearing Station.
CAPTAIN ROBERT STRATHERN LINDSAY, M.C., 49 Manor Place,
Edinburgh. (Apprentice.)
Gazetted 2nd Lieutenant gth Battalion the Royal Scots. Promoted
Lieutenant and thereafter Captain. Served in this country from 4th August
1914 until 23rd February 1915, and in France from 23rd February 1915 until
30th March 1919. Awarded Military Cross January 1917.
