LIEUTENANT ALEXANDER BURN-MURDOCH, 140 Princes Street,
Edinburgh.
Received Commission as 2nd Lieutenant 8th Royal Scots 9th March 1915.
In May of that year became Machine-Gun Officer and later M.G. Instructor.
In July 1915 went to France for duty at Base Depot until August 1915.
Invalided at Stobs Camp May 1916. In June 1917 served as Signalling
Instructor in Ireland till finally invalided in October of same year.
RICHARD MORRIS BURNS, 105 Dalkeith Road, Edinburgh.
Enlisted in 2nd Battalion Royal Scots Fusiliers in August 1914. Went to
France in November 1914, and was killed at Neuve Chapelle on nth March
CAPTAIN WILLIAM BURNS, 35 High Street, Hawick. (Apprentice.)
Mobilised in August 1914 as 2nd Lieutenant the Royal Scots. Adjutant
August 1916 till August 1917. Served abroad from November 1917 till
December 1917, and from September 1918 onwards. Promoted Captain.
MAJOR HEW FRANCIS CADELL, 21 Ainslie Place, Edinburgh.
Mobilised in August 1914 as Major in Lothian and Border Horse. Served
with V. Corps Cavalry Regiment, Queen's Own Worcestershire Yeomanry,
and Anzac Mounted Division. In France with the B.E.F. for eighteen months.
Invalided. Served with the Egyptian Expeditionary Force for one year.
Again invalided.
ACTING CAPTAIN ALEXANDER GORDON CAIRNS, 13 Hill Street,
Edinburgh.
Enlisted as Trooper in Lothian and Border Horse in September 1914.
Received Commission as 2nd Lieutenant Royal Field Artillery in
February 1915. Served in France with 32nd Brigade Royal Field
Artillery in 1915, 1916, and 1918. (Adjutant 1915-16). Invalided 1916
and 1919.
2nd LIEUTENANT GEORGE MORTON CAIRNS, 27 Buckingham Terrace,
Edinburgh.
Enlisted in Army Service Corps M.T. in June 1915. Received Com-
mission in Royal Highlanders (Black Watch) in December 1915. Went
to France in September 1916, and was killed in action at Beaumont
Hamel 13th November 1916.
