LIEUTENANT JOHN HYSLOP ROMANES, 20 Queen Street, Edinburgh.
Commissioned as Lieutenant in T.F. Reserve in July 1915, and served
mainly with a Company of the Royal Defence Corps at Oldcastle, Co.
Meath, Ireland, till gazetted out in April 1917, receiving thanks from War
Office for services.
CAPTAIN JOHN DOUGLAS RUTHERFORD, Milness, Hoylake, Cheshire.
Joined Edinburgh University O.T.C. August 1914. Gazetted 2nd Lieu-
tenant in Royal Army Service Corps September 1914, promoted Captain
May 1915. Served in France, with 4th Division, at Arras, Ypres, and
Paschendale, April to October 1917. Appointed Acting Major, August
1918.
CAPTAIN ROBERT FRANCIS SHEPHERD, 16 Charlotte Square, Edin-
burgh.
Received Commission as 2nd Lieutenant R.G.A. in December 1915.
Promoted Lieutenant, June 1917, and Captain, August 1918. Served in
this Country and at Gibraltar until October 1917, and thereafter in France
until April 1919.
CAPTAIN HARRY MACDONALD SIMSON, 51 Manor Place, Edinburgh.
Enlisted in 9th Royal Scots in August 1914. Afterwards obtained a
Commission and served with 52nd Lowland Divisional Train at Cape
Helles, Gallipoli, from May till August 1915, and with New Zealanders
at Anzac from August till September 1915 ; from October 1915 till August
1919 with 10th Divisional Train in Servia, Macedonia, Palestine, and Egypt.
CAPTAIN FRANCIS CLEMENT NIMMO SMITH, 86 George Street,
Edinburgh.
Enlisted 5th Royal Scots August 1914. Received Commission 3rd Royal
Scots October 1914. Joined 1st Royal Scots in Flanders March 1915.
Served in Belgium, France, and Macedonia. Took part in Battle of Ypres,
April and May 1915. Severely wounded, three places, at capture of Bala
and Zir in Struma Valley, October 1916. Thereafter unfit for general service.
Promoted Captain; served in United Kingdom till demobilised in May
1919.
